Job description

Luminus is a prominent player in the Belgian energy sector, actively contributing to decarbonization and a carbon-free Belgian society. In this context, we are seeking highly engaged, enthusiastic, open-minded, and experienced individuals ready to challenge conventions and drive new business development in Belgium.


The selected candidate will work within the Strategy, Innovation, Business Development, and CSR department, responsible for providing strategic directions, fostering innovation, developing businesses, and steering transformation and sustainability performance.


Under the direct management of the Chief Strategy, Innovation, Business Development, and CSR Officer, the Senior Business Development professional will be responsible for: 

  • Developing new activities in various areas such as flexibility, batteries, B2B and B2G decarbonization offers, e-mobility, and public charging, as well as home energy solutions.
  • Leading a cross-functional Luminus Transformation initiative.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to address one of today's most relevant societal problems, providing significant autonomy and the potential to become the lead and main contact person for projects/businesses once they become viable.


Responsabilities


Business development:

  • You evaluate business potential to determine technical and economic feasibility for Luminus.
  • You propose towards and coordinate with the business on how to organise new developments and propose a specific mandate.
  • You provide support to the business in exploring new developments closely aligned with their core operations.
  • You take the lead for selected business ideas and new technologies.
  • You develop business plans and models for new projects and business lines.
  • You identify innovative financing solutions from both private or public actors.
  • You conduct market research to understand client needs and preferences and offer them innovative solutions.
  • You test and validate assumptions through Proof-of-Concepts and pilot projects.
  • You develop expertise on the topics within our scope and keep an open view for new potential projects, technologies or business lines.
  • You provide feedback and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders on new business lines solutions and projects.


Transformation:

  • You lead strategic initiatives which have a cross-company impact by bringing together a team around a shared plan of approach and secure execution.
  • You lead a multi-disciplinary team with a cross company reach for large projects or strategic initiatives.
  • You are the chair of steering committees with C-level representatives.


The role will primarily focus on business development-related activities, accounting for 60-70% of working time, with transformational initiatives comprising 20-30%. Regular travel within Belgium may be required to visit other sites, affiliates, attend public events, etc.

Job requirements

  • You possess a comprehensive understanding of sales management, marketing, strategic management, and business planning.
  • You excel in stakeholder management, fostering alignment across the company on pertinent subjects.
  • Your communication skills are outstanding, demonstrated in both English and either French or Dutch.
  • You exhibit strong interpersonal abilities, showcasing a talent for nurturing relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Your capacity for active listening and adept problem-solving sets you apart.
  • You are proficient in conducting independent research and formulating sound business strategies.
  • You possess strong time management abilities.
  • You demonstrate sharp critical thinking capabilities.
  • You can identify potential leads.
  • You can communicate with managers, directors, VPs, CxOs.
  • You have expertise in crafting compelling company introductions and pitches for product or service demonstrations.
  • You are experienced in cold calling institutions, interested parties, stakeholders, and potential clients.
  • You have a proven track record of conducting continuous follow-ups with multiple collaborators.
  • You can create professional presentations using PowerPoint for clients.

Ideal candidate:

  • A commercial/industrial/civil Engineering or equivalent Master's studies.
  • A minimum of five years of relevant work experience in a similar role with a proven track record of successful proposals. Also, at least 2 years of experience with the private sector (industry, manufacturing, etc.) will be considered as an asset in the Energy sector.
  • Know-how of the energy sector is a plus.
  • At least perfectly fluent in two languages, either French/English or Dutch/English. Ideally, fluent in all three languages FR/NL/ENG.
